The Pen IS Mightier!

Pen and journalLooking for answers?

We all are. Everyone one of us.  We don’t often realize that’s what we are doing when we find such satisfaction in the new. You know; the new shoes, the new hair, the new man, the new job, the new self-help book, the new diet, the NEW! It feels good and right. We feel whole again. For a few moments, at least. Then the new starts to loose its sparkle and shine. It begins to look and feel a lot like the old. The old feelings re-emerge from where ever they were hiding and once again we are sad, angry, lost, hurt, hungry…

It’s a treadmill, a hamster wheel, a hall of mirrors, an endless loop. Don’t you ever wonder when you are going to get free of it and start living the life you truly want to live? Or do you just stay so busy that there is NO TIME for happiness?

Socrates said, “The unexamined life is not worth living.” Here’s my twist on that, “The unjournaled emptiness will never be filled.” There is hope for those feelings we are so compelled to fix with our endless addictions. Put down the credit card, the carbs and the cleaning. And pick up your pen. Start writing.
